for the 2020 Oberammergau
Our Congregational Development and
Fellowship (CDF) Committee has been
partnering with the Davenport German
American Heritage Center in recent
years to fill coaches for our regional
day trips. Now our partnership will
extend to Germany in 2020. Church
members and their friends are invited
to a special Holy Week presentation on
the 2020 Oberammergau Passion Play
Wednesday, April 17 at 6:30 pm on
the 4th Floor of the German American
Heritage Center, 712 West Second St,
Davenport , IA 52802.
This program which includes clips from
the 2010 Passion Play will be
presented by church member, Linda
Meadors, who traveled to Germany in
2010 to attend the Passion Play
production. She is serving as the
German American Center’s travel
coordinator for their sponsored trip
scheduled for July 16-25 2020.
Sharing the story of Christ’s last days
This inspiring and uplifting play with a
cast of over 2000 village actors,
musicians, chorus members and
theater crew has been re-enacted
every 10 years as a sacred labor of
love and dedication by villagers since
the Middle Ages when Oberammergau
was suffering from the Bubonic Plague.
The surviving villagers appealed for
Divine intervention to save their
families. They vowed that if God were
to spare them, they would perform a
Passion Play every ten years. Villagers
say not a single person fell victim to
the Plague after that. Keeping their
promise, the people of Oberammergau
performed the first play in 1634 and
have continued to do so throughout the

We play every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00-11:00 am in the
church gym (Oct- April), or outside a various courts int he area (May- Sept). Are
you an experienced player or just interested in learning more and trying out the
game? Either way, we have you covered! We have extra equipment for those

You are invited to share a delightful breakfast and fellowship time with your
family and friends before and after the 9:00 am service. This is also the perfect
time to make a new friend. Please mark your calendar to join us the second
Sunday of each month. We look forward to seeing you!
This group coordinates monthly potluck dinners with guest speakers.
When: Fourth Saturday of the month, 6:00 pm (Sept. - April)
Where: Fellowship Hall
If you like good food and good fellowship, please mark your calendar and plan
Book Club (BTC)
All members of the club read and discuss selected books.
When: Third Monday of the month, 12:30 pm (Sept. - May)
Where: Church Parlor or members’ homes
First Night Out
This social group is for anyone who would like to meet new church friends or
enjoy members they have known for years. New groups are assigned every
year in the fall and plan monthly gatherings as individual groups.
When: A combined gathering kicks off First Night Out in the fall. After that,
individual groups plan their own monthly events.
Where: Varies – homes, church, event location
FPC Young Adult Group
All couples or singles up to the age of 40 are invited to join this group, which
plans a variety of social events through the year. The purpose of these
gatherings is to meet new people or to get to know current members better.
