The Prayground is a space for children to experience being in community in the context of worship. We tall friends think of the children as learning and growing through their creative play. Magical moments occur when a child teaches a tall friend a spiritual truth.
On one special morning, a young child worked the entire service building this tower with the colorful connecting disks…
Created out of a full array of colors, mixed together.
EVERY piece was used, not a single piece was left out.
The foundation was built first, secure, stable, and trustworthy.
The tower grew by connecting clusters of disks linking together.
This young architect’s eye identified the need for increased support when seeing the wobbling/teetering of this creation. He carefully placed additional disks in precise spots to secure and support the growing structure.
After the service, our architect requested a sign be posted reading, “Please do not touch”.
The request was honored for a time. Then the pieces were separated to form new connections.
Thank you, wise child, for demonstrating that:
WE exist together, connected, committed to each other, fully engaged.
WE need each other.
WE are strongest when fully engaged, standing close together.
ALL are needed, every color, every age, every one of us.
GOD places specific people in needed places to support the whole.
We take what we learn, the support we experience here in this place, and go on to form new connections.
Please God, help us to keep our eyes and ears open to the lessons you teach us through Godly play. AMEN!
