Mid-Summer Faithfulness

Summer has a way of changing our routines. School is out, vacations come and go, gardens are growing, and the pace of life often feels a little different. Yet by the middle of summer, the excitement of the season may have settled into ordinary days. Whether your home is full of children, you're enjoying retirement, caring for a loved one, working through the summer months, or living on your own, God meets us in these ordinary moments. Our faith is not reserved for holidays, Sundays, or major milestones. It is nurtured in the quiet, everyday rhythms of life.

Notice that the tree doesn't produce fruit all year long. It grows steadily, drawing nourishment from the water beneath the surface until the right season arrives. Faith often works the same way. There are seasons of visible growth and seasons of quiet rooting. There are times when our service is public and times when our faithfulness is simply shown in prayer, kindness, patience, or showing up for those who need us.

Mid-summer invites us to pause and notice where God is already at work. Perhaps God is speaking through a conversation on the porch, laughter around the dinner table, a walk in the neighborhood, the beauty of creation, or moments of stillness with Scripture and prayer. As Presbyterians, we trust that God is continually at work renewing both creation and God's people. We are invited not to strive harder but to abide more deeply in Christ, trusting that the Holy Spirit continues shaping us every day.

Whatever this season looks like for you, may you remember that God has not taken a summer vacation. God's love remains steadfast, God's mercies are new every morning, and God's Spirit continues to nurture faith in every generation. May your summer be filled with moments that remind you of God's enduring faithfulness and abiding peace.
