In a world that always seems to be moving faster, it can be easy to fill our calendars, rush from one activity to the next, and forget to pause and enjoy the people around us. Yet some of life’s most meaningful moments happen when we slow down, make time for one another, and simply share in the joy of being together.
Over the last couple of weeks, our church family has had some wonderful Family Opportunities! From our trip to Pride of the Wapsi with 65 people, to our Trunk or Treat featuring 13 trunks and welcoming around 250 attendees, to our youth outing at Elevate Trampoline Park, we have enjoyed opportunities to connect, laugh, and make memories together.
These gatherings are about more than having fun or filling our calendars. They are about building relationships, welcoming our neighbors, strengthening friendships, and living out our faith in community.
It can be tempting to measure the success of an event by the number of people who attend, the activities we offer, or how smoothly everything goes. Those things certainly matter, but the real value often lies in what happens between the planned activities.
Conversations happen along the way, laughter is shared with friends, new friendships begin, and moments when someone feels welcomed and included.
Our trip to Pride of the Wapsi gave 65 people the opportunity to step away from their usual routines and enjoy time together. Trunk or Treat brought 13 trunks and around 250 attendees together for fun, fellowship, and community connections. At Elevate Trampoline Park, our youth had the chance to burn off energy, laugh together, and strengthen friendships in a fun and active environment.
While each event was different, they all shared something important: they gave us time to connect.
These moments remind us that church is about more than gathering for worship on Sunday mornings. Church is about caring for one another, building relationships, welcoming our neighbors, and creating a place where people know they belong.
As we look ahead, may we remember that the life of our church is built not only through what we do, but also through the time we spend together. Our programs and events are valuable because they help us live out something even more important: our shared life in Christ. Continue to make room for laughter, conversation, fellowship, and meaningful relationships. Continue welcoming new faces, strengthen old friendships, encourage our young people, and look for opportunities to connect with people throughout our congregation and community.
Thank you to everyone who participated in these recent activities and to all those who helped make them possible. Thank you to those who decorated a trunk, helped welcome guests, encouraged our youth, or simply showed up and joined in, you helped create opportunities for connection and community.
In the midst of our busy lives, may we remember to pause, be present, and enjoy the gift of one another. May we continue to be a congregation that welcomes people with open hearts, shares God’s love generously, and makes time for the relationships that help our faith grow.
Because sometimes the most meaningful thing we can do is simply slow down, show up, and spend time together.
